A benefit of conservatories that most people overlook is the opportunity to use more of your garden while isolated from the outside world. This is not to say that anyone who has one is a misanthropic ogre, but with the world becoming increasingly crowded it is difficult for one to enjoy even their own space anymore. By investing in conservatories , you wall off yet more of your space but allowing the best part of the outside – the sun and light – in. That means you get to enjoy the best parts of the weather while removing most of the noise generated by children, roads or lawn mowers.
Conservatories can become a target for burglars though, as many are thrown up fairly quickly by builders with little care for doing a good job. This means if you have uPVC windows they can often be lifted out much easier than with the traditional wooden framed ones. Also thieves know that during the long summer evenings, French windows are often used during the day and then left open until late at night, offering plenty of opportunity to rip you off.
This doesn't mean conservatories need to be any less secure than the rest of your house. Making sure you don't leave the doors unlocked while in other parts of the house can prevent any opportunist theft, and installing a lockable grill between the conservatories and the main part of the house will provide an additional level of security should they get through the glass.
